Introduction: The Stags Leap District is the Napa Valley smallest and most acclaimed sub-appellation. Located along the Silverado Trail, just a few miles north of Napa, the Stags Leap District was named after a legendary story of a courageous stag that eluded hunters by jumping to safety on the jagged cliffs of the Vaca Mountains.

Today, this story lives on through the intensely fruit-driven 2022 Kukeri Cabernet Sauvignon, crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in a unique mixture of rocky, iron-rich volcanic soils along the rugged eastern hillsides and gravelly riverbed soils on the western edge of the appellation. Alcohol: 14.45%
pH: 3.69
Production: 250 cases

Awards: Gold Medal from the 2026 San Francisco Chronicle International Wine Competition; 95 pts & Double-Gold Medal from 2025 Sunset International Wine Competition

Introduction: The grapes for our 2023 Kukeri Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon are sourced from Truchard Estate Vineyard, located in the Carneros region of Napa Valley. The vineyard spans approximately 400 acres of rolling hills and valleys and is defined by an exceptional diversity of soils, including clay, shale, sandstone, limestone, volcanic ash, and rocky deposits. This complex soil mosaic, combined with Carneros’ cool-climate influence, provides ideal conditions for growing premium Cabernet Sauvignon, producing wines that are deep in color, with lush flavors of plum and dark berries, layered spice, and a balanced structure supported by lingering acidity.

Winemaking: The grapes were hand-harvested in early October, then de-stemmed and gently crushed into small fermentation bins, where they underwent a 3-day cold soak to enhance color stability and flavor development. Fermentation lasted 18 days, with punch-downs three times daily, followed by an additional 2-day extended maceration to further build color, structure, and phenolic complexity. The wine was then gently pressed and aged on fine lees for 18 months in a mixture of 80% French and 20% American oak, including 40% new French oak, to preserve delicate aromatics, integrate tannins, and build mouthfeel.

Tasting Notes: Intense and vibrant, the 2023 Kukeri Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon opens with expressive aromas of dark fruits and blueberry layered with tobacco and earthy spice. Subtle notes of mountain forest, cedar, and dusty baking cocoa add depth and complexity. On the palate, the wine is juicy and chewy, full-bodied and concentrated, with refreshing acidity and a long, structured finish. This is a classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that pairs beautifully with grilled and fire-roasted meats.

Enjoy with Family and Friends!
